THE STATUE OF LIBERTY



France presented the Statue of liberty to the United States of America in 1886 symbolizing international friendship and political freedom.This statue
that is today known across the world for its majesty and splendour and the history that it indeed a monument worth seeing.Several details have gone in to its making.

The Statue of Liberty has 25 windows in its crown,which is said to stand for the immense natural minerals found here on earth and the rays of heaven shining over the world.The crown has seven rays symbolizing the seven seas and continents.The torch held by the statue represents enlightment and the chains at the bottom of the statue stand for the crushing and removing slavery.




The tablet held in the hand of the Statue of Liberty reads July 4th,1776 in Roman numerals signifying the American Independence day.This magnificent statue stands at a height of 152 feet and 2inches according to0 a survey taken,while the height of the entire structure from the bottom of the pedestal to the top of the torch stands at an amazing 306 feet and 8 inches.

Do you know that total weight of copper used in the Statue of Liberty adds up to a whopping 81,300 kg and the steel used amounts to 113,400 kg!The total weight of the statue is a mind-boggling 225 tons.Fathom that? And here’s more,the pedestal weighs 24,500 tons!
